Under the slogan “Portable documents made easy”, people from PDF Complete presents their PDF Complete Office Edition software. Even when it's “made easy” - wich is true -, this application is very powerful and profesionally styled, and of course, not free of charge. You will have to pay 69,95 dollars for each of the first twenty nine licenses. If you go ahead and buy the thirty licenses package, you get a rather modest discount, paying each license at 44,95 dollars.
The most remarkable feature and definitely what makes it different from others applications of the same cathegory is that it offers a single click conversion of documents into PDF format from the very native toolbars of programas like Microsoft Word or Excel of the Office Package. Even more, Microsoft Office 2007 is supported.
How does it work? Well, after the installation of PDF Complete, next time you run Microsoft Word for instance you will be seeing a new button with a PDF signature on it. When you push it, a “Document Creation Options Window” will appear on the screen, letting you choose the location for the new document, its name of course and also, a couple more of interesting configurations. This can be done from the right section of the window where you'll find five differents tabs.
Let's describe them. The first one – kind of useless one – is the About tab. It only shows the version of PDF Complete you are using. The second, is the permissions tab. Here you can secure your document under 40 bit or 128 bit encryption and also set the copy, modify and print permissions. The third tab is Identity. The classics Title, Subject, Author and keywords text boxes are available. Optimize tab is what's next. Here you can set the quality for the output, optimize for web viewing and use the “Embed fonts” feature – kind of important one – with the three following options: “Embed all used fonts”; “Include only the characters used” and “ Embed standard fonts”. Finally, the 'Other' tab is next and the only thing you can do from here is to make previous setting the default for current user or all users.
Since it works as the majority – maybe all – of the PDF creation tools, installing and using a virtual printer on your system, you can also create PDF files sending the documents for conversion to print through this printer. Once again, the “Document Creation Options Window” will be shown and you proceed in the same way explained before.
PDF Complete, produces high quality results from an Adobe Acrobat like interface, in a simple manner and with the distinctive ability to do it from a toolbar button attached to your Microsoft Office applications.
